Kultur Skåne is the division within Region Skåne responsible for culture. Its task is to act as a partner in supporting and promoting the development of cultural activities in Skåne. It does this through grants to cultural institutions, organisations and independent ventures; by initiating, running, and collaborating in development projects in the cultural field.
Kultur Skåne employs advisors, information officers and network-builders that are active within the cultural field in Skåne and the rest of the Öresund region. The core areas are theatre, dance, music, film, art, museums, cultural heritage, archives, literature, libraries, adult education, and educational activities relating to culture.
Kultur Skåne directly manages the county library (Regionbibliotek Skåne), the art administration office (Kultur Skånes konstkansli), the educational service (Kulturutveckling Barn och Unga) with Terra Scaniae – Skåne’s history on the Internet – and the audio newspaper of Skåne (Skånes Taltidning).
The Kultur Skåne office is based in Landskrona. That includes the Konstkansli and Kulturutveckling Barn och Unga with Terra Scaniae.
Kultur Skåne employs four advisors: for dance, Danskonsulenten; for amateur dramatics, Amatörteaterkonsulenten (the post is currently vacant); for youth culture, Ungkulturkonsulenten; and for diverse culture, Mångkulturkonsulenten (the post is currently vacant).
Regionbibliotek Skåne has branches in Malmö and Kristianstad. Skånes Taltidning is based in Malmö.
Kultur Skåne and the Skåne Association of Local Authorities have jointly recruited a project manager for the three-year Culture in Health Care project (kultur i vården).
