Since 1 January 2010, Malmö and Lund have one new collective university hospital.
The purpose of the merger of the university hospitals in Malmö and Lund is to enhance the competitiveness of the university hospital service in a Swedish and an international context, to enhance the scope of clinical research and to enhance the hospital's attractiveness as a workplace. Expressed in simple terms – together we are going to provide even better care.
For most patients and employees, most things will remain the same, although there are plenty of questions about the change. We hope this web site will provide answers to some of those questions

About the name – Skåne University Hospital (SUS)
The name is short and distinct, and it signals a university hospital that has been created for the whole of Skåne. It also forms the foundation for shared identity and culture, because we have a neutral location. The name is also understandable, covering the functions carried out while also clearly signalling Region Skåne. The English name for Skånes Universitetssjukhus is Skåne University Hospital.
