Lund University creates a post as professor in practical MEDICAL education
The medical faculty of Lund University will be the first in the country to set up a professorship in practical medical education. This was made possible thanks to a generous donation by Mr Mats Paulsson, the founder and president of the big Swedish building industry PEAB. Mr Paulsson is since long a great sponsor of Practicum – Lund Clinical Skill Centre and he has quality and safety in health care very much at heart.
Practical medical education is more and more based on simulation. An important task for the professor-to-come, is to prosecute pedagogical research, development, assessment and appraisal of such teaching models.
The professorship will have close relations to Practicum – Lund/Malmö Clinical Skills Centre which at the end of the year will emanate from a merger between Practicum in Lund and Centre for Medical Simulation in Malmö.
